A new concept design store for KFC opened in Manly. The store design is sympathetic to the original heritage building. It connects with the local Manly surroundings using an urban Manly beach landscape graphic across the external windows facing the Manly Wharf Bar. A carefully considered design using a combination of warm timber external and interior architecture elements, injected with key KFC brand elements and KFC highlight colour 'red’. As a case study, the store’s footprint is one of the smallest KFCS globally. The project challenged several aspects, including spatial constraints, kitchen design, existing base building restrictions, services design, customer accessibility, and council and heritage requirements.
