The People Behind The Work
Meet The Team
Lee and Gesa Hopkinson founded The Great Indoors from a shared belief that great design should be both beautiful and purposeful. Lee is an award-winning interior and brand environment designer with over 25 years of experience, known for his visionary creativity and distinctive hand-drawing style. Gesa holds a Master of Architecture from Germany — graduating top of her class — and brings deep expertise in construction documentation, precision detailing, and project management across Europe and Australia.
Their journey together began in Berlin in 1996, before moving to London where they shaped some of the world's most iconic commercial environments — including Selfridges, Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, Nike Town, and Hearst Media Tower. Back in Sydney, they've delivered award-winning projects for Officeworks, Samsung, KFC, and dozens of independent businesses, restaurants, and developers.
Together they lead every project personally — Lee driving the creative vision, Gesa ensuring architectural rigour and flawless delivery. You'll work directly with the founders from concept to completion.
